Wise Water

I have learned about the Wise Water from an Ayurveda doctor , or , a specialist in nontraditional medicine. I do not know why we refer to a very traditional medicine as “ nontraditional” … Really! : What can be more traditional than what has been around for thousands of years? Right?
You are going to love this tea. It is tasty and it is full of health benefits.

It does not take much to prepare it. I, personally, mixed the four spices (listed below) in a container that does not allow sun light or air;  I fill my tea infuser with the mix, and place it in the boiling water (tea pot). I boil the water instead of using the microwave,  … I do not like using the microwave because it changes the molecules of our food to something un natural.

I eyeball the dosage, but if you want to get an idea:  I mix 1/2 tea spoon of each spice (so you end up with 2 full tea spoons of the mixture for the 1.5 liter tea pot. It is approximately 6 cups.
I bring the water to boil; turn the heat off, and immediately place the tea infuser with the mixture into the pot. 5 minutes later, it is ready.
So, please try it. The only people that should not use herbs or spices without consulting with their medical doctor are those who are on blood thinners.
As with any spices or herbs, it has a long lasting effect on your health. Some health problems can be treated immediately but some require a prolonged usage of this tea. It may require up several weeks until you see  full, long lasting benefits.
The spices are not cheap. I paid $40 at the health food store for the regular size containers you see in the picture. But,  we spend lots of money on the food that damages our health, … why not to spend a little and get the health back???
Here are the magical spices:
Cardamom (or cardamon) belongs to ginger family.
Generally, the plant grows up to 4 yards in length and starts producing seed pods after about two years of plantation.
Cardamom has a strong, taste with an intensely aromatic fragrance. There is black and green cardamom. The Green cardamom is most expensive, but you will use less of it because it is stronger in flavor. It is best stored in pods (in seed shells) because once the seeds are exposed or ground, they quickly lose their flavor. However, high-quality ground cardamom seed is often more available. Grinding the pods and seeds together lowers both the quality and the price.
In South Asia, green cardamom is often used in traditional Indian sweets and in masala chai (spiced tea). The Black cardamom is sometimes used in curries. It is occasionally used as a garnish in basmati rice.
Health benefits of cardamom:Antibacterial,
Anti- spasmodic,
Prevents formation of gas,
Improves digestion,
Promotes the production of urine,
Assists with movement of mucus, or other matter from the respiratory tract,
Stimulant (like coffee) ,
Improves the function of the stomach,

Additionally, it is also an excellent source of iron and manganese. Approximately  ½ cup (or 100 g )  contain 14 mg or 175% of daily-required levels of iron. As we all know, Iron is required for red blood cell formation and cellular metabolism.

Coriander, commonly referred to as Cilantro in America.:
People confuse coriander with cilantro, because they come from the same plant. Cilantro, an herb, comes from the leaves of the coriander plant. And while it is tasty, it’s not nearly as healthful as the spice coriander, which comes from the plant’s sweet, nutty seeds. Coriander has very many benefits.  It has eleven components of essential oils, six types of acids (including ascorbic acid, known as vitamin-C), minerals and vitamins and has anti microbial properties.
This spice is used to heal and deal with:
Swelling
High cholesterol
Diarrhea
Skin disorders (due to its disinfectant, detoxifying, anti-septic, anti-fungal and anti-oxidant properties)
 Anemia (low iron level)
Proper secretion of the hormones (….and that is inducing proper menstrual cycles and reducing pains during periods)
Cures ulcer, inflammation, spasms,
Protects and soothes liver.

Fennel Seed

The taste reminds me licorice. In India, they are eaten as an after-dinner digestive.

Health Benefits:
Fennel calms colic in babies.
Calms Menstrual Cramps
As powerful anti-oxidants fennel removes harmful free radicals from the body and protects from cancers, infection, aging and degenerative neurological diseases.

May also help prevent and treat:
Alzheimer’s, arthritis, cancer, colitis (inflammatory bowel disease), dementia, glaucoma, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke.

How to buy fennel seed:
Fennel seeds are sold whole or ground. Whole fennel seeds are yellow and tinged with green, which indicates top quality. Ground fennel starts to lose its flavor after six months, while whole fennel seeds keep for three years, so it’s best to buy whole and grind as needed.

Ginger

It is known, worldwide, that ginger helps ease nausea. It may also help prevent and treat:
Arthritis, asthma, cancer, cholesterol problems, heart attack, heartburn, indigestion, migraine, morning sickness, motion sickness,  stroke, elevated triglycerides.

How to buy ginger:
Opt for fresh gingerroot over the dried, ground stuff. When buying fresh gingerroot, look for knobs (called “hands”) that are firm with smooth skin. Store fresh, peeled ginger in a paper bag in the refrigerator, where it will keep for two weeks. You can also keep unpeeled ginger indefinitely by freezing it in a freezer bag.

Overall:
Store your spices in clean, airtight containers away from heat and light. Refrigeration can help extend the shelf life of spices.
