Apple cider vinegar has been known to treat numerous diseases and health conditions. To name a few, it supposed to slow down aging, ease digestion, and wash "toxins" from the body. And yes, one more : kill head lice; if anyone is interested in that particular property. ;-)
A number of med-researches support what was found back in 400 B.C. It was discovered that Organic/Natural, Undistilled Apple Cider Vinegar (or ACV) is a powerful cleansing elixir and "a naturally occurring antibiotic and antiseptic that fights germs and bacteria" .
However, when most people see natural apple cider vinegar with the brownish color and the tiny, cobweb "mother" floating in it, they think it looks yakie. …Shake it up, people and start using it!
When you buy the clear vinegar, you are buying distilled kind. During distilling, the vinegar is heated. The heat is destroying the powerful enzymes and evaporating the life-giving minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, natural organic fluorine, silicon, trace minerals and pectin as well as many other powerful nutrients! Distilling also destroys the natural malic and tartaric acids which are important in fighting body toxins and inhibiting unfriendly bacteria.
Animal proteins and fats have a tendency to thicken the blood, while natural acids and enzymes in ACV help to keep the blood healthier and thinner.
Some benefits that were discovered by scientific researches (I have to say those were done on animals, though) show:
Reduction of high cholesterol.
Lowering high blood .
Slowing cancer cells growth.
Assisting in weight Loss . (this study was done on people)
Reducing joint stiffness. (this study was also done on people)
Since apple cider vinegar is an unproven treatment (by modern medicine), there are no official recommendations on how to use it. Some people take two teaspoons a day (mixed in a cup of water or juice.) I, personally, use 1.5 table spoon of ACV a day, mixing it with a tart cherry juice and 500 ML of filtered water.
What Are the Risks of Apple Cider Vinegar?
On the whole, there are no risks of taking occasional, small amounts of apple cider vinegar. But using apple cider vinegar over the long term, or in LARGE amounts, could have risks. Here are some things to keep in mind:
Apple cider vinegar is highly acidic. Apple cider vinegar should always be diluted with water or juice before swallowed. Pure apple cider vinegar could damage the tooth enamel and the tissues in your throat and mouth.
Long-term and excessive use of apple cider vinegar could cause low potassium levels and lower bone density. If you already have low potassium or osteoporosis, talk to your doctor before using apple cider vinegar.
Apple cider vinegar could, theoretically, interact medicines for diabetes and heart disease. If you have diabetes, check with your doctor before using apple cider vinegar. Vinegar contains chromium, which can alter your insulin levels.
If you're thinking about trying apple cider vinegar, and you have some health problems, talk to your doctor first. It's always worth getting an expert's advice. Trying to control a serious medical condition on your own with an unproven treatment is unwise.
I drink ACV cocktails daily and I especially enjoyed them during those hot summer days. I make sure my body is supplied with the beneficial and high energy foods, and the ACV is one of them!
See if this is something you would like to explore for your health benefits!
Namaste~
