Lack of friendly intestinal flora is a root of health problems

Since my yoga teacher helped me to get my life back I have been enjoying my bike rides like I used to before my bad back took me in-line with the disabled people.
Thus: Yesterday, I went on a bike ride on the trail along the Seidman Park , that comes around Pettis Rd. and brings me back to Egypt Valley Ave. 12 miles loop. Beautiful scenery! On this ride, I could not help myself but to stop and chatt with someone.  Since I always keep my phone with me on my rides, I was also able to snap a picture of the family:

It is really too bad that human race evolved to the point of slicing their throats and slapping the bloody chunk of their flesh on the plate. ...They would run for their lives but most of the time they are surrounded by a fence or trapped by cement walls of a meat factory. Do we really have to eat warm-blooded living creatures or can we sustain and thrive on vegetation? … I know one thing for sure:
EVERY TIME (!) we need to get our health back we turn to vegetables and fruits. Interesting, ah? We do not increase the consumption of the red meat. No! Instead: we increase the consumption of the bright colored veggies and the succulent and super nutritional fruits.  So, let’s all think about this next time we consider red meat for our table. That is all I ask.
Since several subscribers to my blog have asked me to share some digestion improving tricks in details, I will start focusing on creating weekly menu that will help us to improve the digestion. Note that I am not saying “help you to lose weight”. That is because I want all of us to finally remember that as soon as you fix your digestion and your body’s ability to absorb nutrients, you will get your weight under control, your immune system to its highest potential, and your energy level up!
I am going to take it step by step, one post at a time.
Step number one: DO NOT deactivate the alkaline properties of the salads with acidic ingredients.
That means stop using these in our salads:
1.       Commercial dressings
2.       Cheese
3.       Meat
4.       Balsamic Vinegars
·          minimize the use of oils

Some key points always to remember:
-          Herbs like parsley and cilantro have great cleansing properties. They are full of ANTIOXIDENTS and help extract heavy metals and other toxins out of our bodies.
-          Summer Fresh (raw) salads (dairy free) with the home made dressings offered in this letter are super nutritious and full of enzymes that restore body’s pH, increase immunity, and restore intestinal flora.
-          Kale is rich in phytochemicals, fiber and chlorophyll. It is a major blood cleaner.
-          While most of the organic raw veggies have plenty of vitamins in them, the RED PEPPER is bursting with vitamin A, C, and K.
-          Balsamic Vinegar is acid forming (see article about Body pH) so, we need to stop using it in our salads in order to improve digestion. Use RAW APPLE CIDER instead.
-          Make your dressing OIL FREE to keep your salad on alkaline side of the scale.
You will notice how much lighter and happier your intestine feel if you incorporate those rules into your eating habits.

I always remember Chinese Proverb: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Thus, my goal is to share with you “how to” and “what not to” instead of giving you a recipe a day, like many other bloggers do. If we all understand the fundamentals of the healthy eating, we can create our own recipes and  won’t need to mirror someone’s plate all the time.

To give you an example of the oil-free dressings and possibly inspire you to create your own within the guidelines of “alkaline” principles,  I am offering you the following :
Red Pepper and Cilantro Salad Dressing:

1 Red Pepper
1 cup of chopped cilantro
1 tomato
2 garlic cloves
2 tbsp of lemon juice, 1 tbsp of water
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp raw apple cider vinegar

Directions: bland all ingredients until smooth. Good for 2 days in the refrigerator.

Avocado Salad Dressing:
1 avocado
2 garlic cloves
¼ cup of water (filtered)
2 tbsp of shopped fresh dill
3-4 drops of stevia, agave or honey
2 tbsp of lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions: blend all ingredients until creamy and smooth. Prepare on the same day of consumption.

Please let me know if you come up with your own salad dressings that incorporate the discussed fundaments of alkaline foods.
Bon appétit!
